Seeking the Kingdom of God

Seeking the Kingdom of God

The Lord Jesus made it clear during the first major message to His disciples, which is called “The Sermon on the Mount”, that seeking the Kingdom of God should be the first priority for Believers: “But seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33).      This verse comes at the conclusion of an extended passage beginning in (v.24) ending in (v.34) which emphasizes the truth that the everyday needs of Believers must not be our primary concern, but instead we must “Seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things” referring to the needs of life will be given to us by faith in the Lord’s promises. They must not be the all consuming focus of the mind of the Believer but by faith we must seek and experience the presence of the Kingdom of God and walk with the King!

In every Kingdom there must be, first of all, a King, and a realm in which he rules, and subjects or people who are under his authority. The Lord Jesus Christ is that King, His realm is the Kingdom of God, the spiritual realm in which He now rules and moves about as the King, but His subjects, Believers, can only experience the actual spiritual blessings of His realm as they seek to enter by placing themselves under His authority through simple child-like obedience which is accomplished by faith.

In His realm there is no place for sin for sin will not abide in the presence of the Holy King. In His realm there is no sorrow, only rejoicing in the Spirit. In His realm there is awe inspiring worship of the Lord Jesus Christ for He is in complete control, communicating His Truth to the Believer through every means possible for He is King and every word, every movement, every single event that occurs speaks of and exalts His glory and control. It is through this ongoing Kingdom communication that the Lord directs the steps of His subjects/saints.

This is His Kingdom, He is the King of Glory and the Believer is able to see and experience His excellent power and blessing as they walk with Him, abiding in Jesus, knowing Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering. This is why men seek to take it by force and are successful in their desires, their hungering and thirsting for righteousness along with their complete earnestness by faith according to the Lord’s teaching in Matthew 11:12, 13:“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the Kingdom of Heaven suffered violence and the violent take it by force for all the Prophets and the Law prophesied unto John.”

It is through this full and complete surrender of the soul that the Believer enters and attains the marvelous miracle of the King’s communication for He knows your next thought, your next step, the way you are going to take and meets you there with His love and glory to usher you through the day by His indwelling and Living Word through the Holy Spirit’s presence and power. The King of glory will come in and control the Believer guiding their steps and circumstances when they seek and search for Him with all their heart! (Jeremiah 29:13)

These Kingdom of God Truths may well be what the Lord Jesus (Acts 1:3), and Paul the Apostle (Acts 28:31) were teaching when they are mentioned preaching the things concerning the Kingdom near the end of their earthly ministry. Philip the Evangelist (Acts 8:12) also chose to preach on the Kingdom of God when he brought salvation and revival to Samaria. The Kingdom of God and its impact upon Believers is obviously very important for Believers growth and understanding of what Truths the Lord has available for those who choose to walk with Him.and enter into the battle that is raging for the souls of men.

Herein is where mighty intercession takes place for Believers who are experiencing the vicious assault of Satan and his cohorts “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers o f the darkness of this world against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12)
